Space monitoring
In accordance with DIN EN ISO 4126-3, the space between the bursting disc and
the safety valve is provided with a side connection point in order to prevent and/or
detect excessive pressure build-up.
At this connection point, a monitoring device such as a pressure sensor (for
connection to the process control system) or a drag pointer pressure gauge is to
be installed.
In order to ensure that impermissible counter-pressure does not arise between
the bursting disc and the safety valve, the space between the safety valve and the
bursting disc can also be vented by means of a non-return ball valve.
Attention!!!
Depending on the medium, this may lead to a hazard in the vicinity of the venting
point for space monitoring. If there is any doubt in this regard, this option
should be rejected in favour of monitoring via pressure sensor or the connection
point should be moved to an area that is no longer hazardous in the respective
surroundings.
