Adapter & Die Set Up
It is important to know the appropriate die set that corresponds to the size, type, and manufacturer of the connector to
be crimped (See Connector & Die Selection). Using the wrong die and connector combination will lead to incomplete
crimps that, if not corrected, risks a fire starting from the bad crimp.
The EK1550FLX and Ek1550SLX have the capacity to use several different die sets. Some types of dies require an
adapter to hold the dies. If no adapter is needed, dies fit directly into tool.
Determine the dies to be used and if an adapter is required based on the type of die and the model of crimper. See
CJ22 Jaws and KC22/KA22-Type Die Tables for cUL and UL classified die and connector combinations.
"P" Style Dies—No Adapters Required (Fig.1)
1. Slide top die into tool head while pressing the
die retainer button.
2. Release button and allow die to snap into place.
The dies should not be able to be removed
without pressing the die retainer button,
3. Repeat with other die.

12-ton "U" Style Dies - Use UA15T Adapter (Fig. 2)
1. Slide top UA15T adapter into tool head while
pressing the die retainer button.
2. Release button and allow adapter to snap into
place. Repeat with the other adapter.
3. Slide the appropriate die into the adaptor while
pressing the retaining button on the adaptor.
4. Release button and allow die to snap into place.
Neither the dies or the adapters should be able
to be removed without pressing the die retainer
buttons.
