Once you have reached the
kite you can secure the lines by
sitting on the leading edge of the
kite and wind up the kite lines
onto the bar. Never let the kite

lines get tangled on your body.
Alternatives include unhooking from
your bar and using your Shift Leash
to hook into the Pump Leash/Shift
Attachment point to hold the kite while
you are winding your lines up.

After you have secured the
lines you can move into the self

4. SAFETY
What to do if the kite falls
down with the leading edge
facing into the wind:
Pic 1 - 5
Hook into the QRTL. Take one of
the steering lines in your hand and
pull on it until that wing tip be-
gins to catch the wind. Do not wrap
the lines around your hand. Keep
shorting the line until the kite
catches enough wind to turn around
and face down wind. As the kite
changes direction, let go of the
line in your hand and make sure it
does not wrap around yourself, the
bar or anything else. Now follow
instructions for relaunching the kite.
Note:
If the kite tumbles down wind
and the Shift line gets wrapped
around the kite, let go of the bar,
work your way up the Shift line to
the kite. Self rescue then untangle
lines on the beach and relaunch
the kite.
Tip:
In this case, you might be able
to relaunch the kite. To do this, do
not pull the shift line. Instead, pull
one steering line. The kite will rotate
and the shift line will probably get
unwrapped from the kite.
