ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL SAW WITH RIVING
KNIFE
Riving knife function
a ) Use the appropriate saw blade for the riving knife. For the riving knife
to function, the body of the blade must be thinner than the riving knife and
the cutting width of the blade must be wider than the thickness of the
riving knife.
b ) Adjust the riving knife as described in this instruction manual.
Incorrect spacing, positioning and alignment can make the riving knife
ineffective in preventing kickback.
c ) Always use the riving knife except when plunge cutting. The riving
knife must be replaced after plunge cutting. The riving knife causes interf
erence during plunge cutting and can create kickback.
d ) For the riving knife to work, it must be engaged in the workpiece. The
riving knife is ineffective in preventing kickback during short cuts.
e ) do not operate the saw if the riving knife is bent. Even a light
interference can slow the closing rate of a guard.

Adjusting the riving knife

The riving knife (12) has to be adjusted in that way, that the distance between the
riving knife and the rim of the blade will not exceed 5 mm and the rim of the blade
must not extend more than 5mm beyond the lowest edge of the riving knife.
Checking the saw-blade
Broken or bent saw-blades must not be used.
Do not use saw-blades made of High Speed Steel (HSS-steel).
Abrasive cutting discs must not be used.
Only use saw-blades corresponding to the technical specifications, written in this
manual. The set of the saw-teeth has to be max. 2,4 mm, max blade thickness 1.5mm
Do not brake the saw-blade by pressing from either side, after the machine is switched
off.
Please observe, that the disc of the saw-blade must not be thicker than the riving knife
and the set of the saw-teeth must not be lower, than the thickness of the riving knife.
Always observe to fasten the saw-blade sufficiently and pay attention to the correct
sense of rotation of the saw-blade.
identify the correct saw blade to be used for the material to be cut.
use only saw blades that are marked with a speed equal or higher than the speed
marked on the tool.
