Before fi rst use
ATTENTION!
The plastic foils and bags pose a suffocation hazard! Keep children and animals
away from the packaging material.
You might notice a strange smell or smoke the fi rst time you toast something. We
therefore recommend that you fi rst perform 3 toastings at the highest setting without
any bread in order to remove any production residues that may be present. You
should leave a three-minute gap between each toasting. During this time, make sure
the room is well ventilated, e. g. with wide-open windows!
Before fi rst using the device, please also note the information in the "Toasting" chap-
ter.
1. Unpack all parts and check the items supplied for completeness (see the "Items
Supplied and Device Overview" chapter) and transport damage. If you fi nd any
damage to the components, do not use them (!), but contact our customer service
department.
2. Remove any fi lms or stickers that may be present from the device.
3. Check whether the lowering lever can be operated smoothly.
4. Unwind the cable from the cable winder to the length you require.
5. Place the toaster on a dry, heat-resistant, fl at surface a suffi cient distance away from
fl ammable objects. Please make sure that the toaster is not accessible to children.
6. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed and earthed 230 V mains socket with
earthing contacts.
7. Perform 3 toasting operations at the highest level without bread in order to remove
any production residues. Ensure that there is an interval of a few minutes between
the toasting operations.
8. Your toaster is now ready for operation.

Toasting

The extent of browning depends greatly on the type, the freshness and the composition
of the bread which is used. An increased protein, sugar or calcium content, for example,
leads to stronger browning, whilst fats and preservatives reduce it. Initially, depending
on your own personal taste and the bread, you should start with a low toasting setting
and increase it in stages until you get an optimum level of browning that you are happy
with.
CAUTION!
Danger of burns! The housing of the toaster becomes hot during use! Only touch the
device by the handles and buttons which are provided for this purpose!
Do not place the device in the vicinity of or under fl ammable objects (e.g. curtains).
Before using the toaster, make sure the crumb tray is inserted completely.
