Efficiency Rating
➀ Manufacturer's calculated max. rate with open storage tank, inlet water pressure of 100 psi, temperature of 90°F
and 100 ppm TDS conditions.
➁ Efficiency Rating means the percentage of the influent water to the system that is available to the user as reverse
osmosis treated water under operating conditions that approximate typical daily usage.
➂ Recovery Rating means the percentage of the influent water to the membrane of the system that is available to the
user as reverse osmosis treated water when the system is operated without a storage tank or when the storage tank
is bypassed.
U.S. Patent numbers 4,698,164; 4,629,568; 4,650,586

The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier is certified by NSF International against NSF P231 –
Microbiological Water Purifiers based on the recommendations set forth in the USEPA's Guide
Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers (OPP Task Force Report, 1987).
The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier is tested and certified by NSF International
against NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 58 for the reduction of substances specified on the Man-
ufacturer's Performance Data Sheet.
The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier was tested by UL and found to meet all the require-
ments of the USEPA's Guide Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers
(OPP Task Force Report, 1987) as interpreted by UL specifically for the Purefecta product.
The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier was verified by the Water Quality Association
(WQA) and found to meet all the requirements of the USEPA's Guide Standard and Protocol
for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers (OPP Task Force Report, 1987) as interpreted by
WQA specifically for the Purefecta product. The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier is
certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 58 for the reduction of substances
specified on the Manufacturer's Performance Data Sheet.
The Kinetico Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier was tested by BioVir Laboratories and found to
meet all the requirements of the USEPA's Guide Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological
Water Purifiers (OPP Task Force Report, 1987) as interpreted by BioVir Laboratories specifically
for the Purefecta product.
This system conforms to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for aesthetic chlorine, taste and odor, NSF/ANSI Standard 53 for VOC
and MTBE reduction and NSF/ANSI Standard 58 for pentavalent arsenic reduction. See the Manufacturer's Perfor-
mance Data Sheet and Arsenic Facts section for individual contaminants and explanation of the reduction performance.
This system is acceptable for treatment of influent concentrations of no more than 27 mg/L nitrate and 3 mg/L nitrite
in combination measured as N and is certified for nitrate/nitrite reduction only for water supplies with a pressure
of 280 kPa (40 psig) or greater and with test kit part no. 7329. Annual testing is recommended. Contact your local
Kinetico dealer for instructions and help with the testing.
This system contains a replaceable treatment component, critical for the effective reduction of total dissolved solids
and the efficiency of the system. Replacement of the reverse osmosis component should be with one of identical
specifications as defined by the manufacturer to assure the same efficiency and contaminant reduction performance.
The product water shall be tested annually to verify that the system is performing properly.
In addition, the materials and components used in the construction of Purefecta have been tested by NSF Interna-
tional to assure that levels of extractable contaminants do not exceed established limits set by NSF/ANSI Standard 58.
Purefecta has also been evaluated under NSF/ANSI Standard 58 that it is designed and constructed so that its intended
purpose can be accomplished when operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
See the Manufacturer's Performance Data Sheet for specific contaminant reduction.
