Problem
3.2.1 Motor does not start
3.2.2 Motor switches OFF
"for no reason".
3.2.3 Speed too high, too low,
speed fluctuates
Machine too weak, no control
response noticeable
No-load speed levels

3.2 Comprehensive function check
Possible cause
Required switching sequence
was not followed.
Break or bad connection in
power cord or connections.
Defective Motor switch.
Dust deposits around the
motor protective switch
(safety interlock is activated).
Worn-out carbon brushes.
Defective motor.
Defective electronics module.
Intermittent. (For example, an
intermittent contact in the
power cord may trigger the
safety interlock).
Defective electronics module.
Defective motor.
Defective electronics module.
additional mechanical strain
(gears, bearings, vibrations...)
Defective commutator or
carbon brushes.
Defective electronics.
Defective electronics.
Defective electronics module.

Test options:

Cycle motor switch OFF, then ON again.
Check continuity.
Check switch.
Clean the affected area.
Visual inspection.
Check motor without electronics. Detach motor
supply leads from electronics. Connect motor to
180 V.
Check electronics without motor. Detach motor
supply leads from electronics. Connect a replace-
ment load of approx. 100 W (e.g. a bulb) to the
electronics. Measure voltage at replacement
load. In the case of a bulb of 100 W the on-load
voltage at level 6 must be approx. 50-60% of the
line voltage.
Check continuity.
See above.
See above.
See above.
Check all mechanical functions, check no-load
voltage.
Visually check for brush sparking.
Messure motor voltage at level 6. The voltage
must increase as the machine load increases.
No further check required.
