The device has two electrical interfaces. The heater to be checked is
hooked-up through a cable of approx. 3 m length, which is connected to
Status LEDs
the diagnostic adapter steadily. All Thermo S series heaters are already
equipped with an appropriate connector. Please, while connecting,
press the connectors together until they snap into place clearly audible.
Hook-up cable (approx. 9.8')
For all other heating devices, please use the supplied adapter wiring
harness. Consider that you must use it in conjunction with the already
applied adapters.
The device features a full-speed USB 2.0 port. This USB port is compat-
ible with high-speed USB 2.0. The device may also connected to a
computer that has an USB 1.1 interface.
Connect the diagnostic adapter to your computer using the provided
USB 2.0 cable. Make sure that the used USB cable is not longer than
2 m.
The device is energized through the USB connection and through the
vehicle system voltage in a range of 9 up to 36 V. Consider that your
USB port
heating appliance operates only properly at a voltage of more than
approx. 18 V, and voltages above 30 V may result in damages to the
heater. In this regard we strongly recommend, that you read the oper-
ating manual of your heating appliance. Never connect the device to a
domestic AC power socket! Voltages above 36 V may damage the diag-
nostic adapter.
Read also the operation and maintenance instructions of your heating
appliance!
Power supply interruption as well as a broken diagnostic line will result
in termination of connection.
Connect plugs and cables only to such counterparts and devices that
were designated for that.
