Smoke detector DD355
Checking the personalised
radio code
Base unit in test mode (tamper sensor
released):
Press the detector test button for at
least 10 seconds:
correct: high pitched BEEP, and
"FIRE" indicator light comes on or the
voice message speaks "FIRE ALARM",
incorrect: low pitched BEEP from the
base unit or no voice message, repeat
the programming of the personalised
radio code
Choosing where to put
the detector
The detector should be put:
in rooms at risk of fire
(living rooms with a fireplace, children's
bedrooms, lofts or basements that are
occupied),
on the ceiling in the middle of the
room at least 15 cm from the walls
away from any air vents that may
prevent the smoke from reaching the
detector,
on every floor for houses with several
floors.
The detector must not be put:
in kitchens or bathrooms, fumes from
cooking and steam may trigger false
alarms,
in unheated rooms,
in garages or particularly dusty
places,
close to fluorescent tubes,
less than 6 metres from a fireplace
or wood burning stove – the smoke may
trigger false alarms,
at the top of an ogival (A-shaped or
Gothic) ceiling. A pocket of air here may
prevent the smoke reaching the
detector,
directly on a metal surface.
