height. If original components of the product are
modified or removed, the safety properties may be
influenced adversely. The equipment should not be
altered or remodelled or adjusted by use of addition-
al parts in any way not specifically recommended by
the manufacturer in writing. Before and after use,
check the product for possible damage. Ensure fit-
ness for use and correct function. If in doubt con-
cerning the safety condition of the product, remove
it from use immediately.
SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the
type and frequency of use as well as on external in-
fluences. Products made of synthetic fibres (polyam-
ide, polyester, Dyneema
if not used. Such aging mainly depends on the inten-
sity of ultraviolet radiation and climatic influences.
When approaching the durability limits or latest at
the end of the maximum service life indicated, the
product must be removed from use.
Maximum service life is achieved under optimum
storage conditions (see storage) and without use: 12
years
Occasional use: Service life for infrequent proper
use, without detectable wear and at optimum stor-
age conditions: 10 years
Frequent or extrem use: Under extreme operating
conditons with frequent or extreme fall loading, the
safety reserves of the product may be exhausted
already after a short period of use, requiring replace-
ment of the product.

Generally, PPE products must be replaced immedi-
ately if the edges of webbing is damage or if fibres
have been pulled from the webbing, if visible signs of
abrasion show on seems or if the product has come
in contact with chemicals. Ropes or products into
which ropes are integrated must be replaced imme-
diately if hard fall loading (impact factor >1) has oc-
curred, or if strong damage to the jacket (with the
core bared) is visible, or if the product has come in
contact with chemicals. Repairs may only be per-
formed as outlined in the instructions of the manu-
facturer.
TRANSPORT
Protect the product from direct sunlight, chemicals,
contamination and mechanical damage. To ensure
this, use a protective bag or special storage and
transport containers.

1 If the upper part of the body could suddenly tip over
uncontrolled, a sit harness (type C) must be used in
connection with a chest harness (type D) only. A
suitable lanyard may be used to connect the chest
harness (type D) and the sit harness (type C).
