Preparing the Device

PLEASE NOTE!
■ Do not pour milk or other liquids into the water tank. Only ever use water!
■ Never overfi ll the coff ee bean compartment / the permanent fi lter.
Filling the Water Tank
1. Open the water tank lid (3).
2. Pour the quantity of water required for the number of cups you want (maximum 10
cups) into the water tank (7).
3. Close the water tank lid.
All of the water in the water tank is always used, regardless of the set number of
cups or coff ee strength.
Adding the Coff ee Beans
1. Take off the lid of the coff ee bean compartment (1).
Ensure that the water tank (7) is closed so that no coff ee beans can fall into the
water tank.
2. Fill the coff ee bean compartment (2) with coff ee beans. Do not overfi ll it!
3. Place the lid back on the coff ee bean compartment.
When you switch to another type of coff ee, there will still be coff ee powder from
the previous type in the grinder shaft.
Inserting the Filter
1. Press the release button for the fi lter compartment (5).
2. Insert the fi lter insert (12) into the fi lter compartment.
3. Insert the permanent fi lter (13) or a basket fi lter paper into the fi lter insert.
4. Put the lid (14) on the permanent fi lter.
5. Close the fi lter compartment again. It must engage audibly.
If coff ee powder is to be used instead of coff ee beans, fi ll the permanent fi lter
with coff ee powder before starting to make coff ee. We recommend one heaped
measuring spoon for each cup.
Setting the Grinding Fineness
Set the dial for adjusting the grinding fi neness (4) to the grinding fi neness you want by
turning it to the left (fi ne) or right (coarse).
Setting the Number of Cups
Keep pressing the Tassen 2 – 10 (cups 2 – 10) button (16) until the display (15) shows
the number of cups you want (2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 cups).
The selected number of cups is saved until a new number of cups is set or the
device has been disconnected from the power supply for more than a minute.
