FIREPLACE FRAMING AND INSTALLATION

Unpacking the Fireplace
After removal of the cardboard carton, remove the band hold-
ing the corner posts, non-combustible board and top mounting
standoffs to the fireplace. Set the non-combustible board and top
mounting standoffs aside, discard the corner posts.
To remove the fireplace from the pallet, remove and discard the
black clips and screws fastening each end of the fireplace to the
pallet.
Remove any protective film from fireplace and all components
(nailing flanges, standoffs, etc.).
Framing
Fireplace support framing should be built before the fireplace is set
in place. The fireplace framing may be constructed of 2 x 4 lumber.
The framing headers must rest on the fireplace standoffs. Refer to
Figure 12 for minimum framing dimensions.
Measure fireplace dimensions and verify framing methods,
and wall covering details before framing construction begins.
Framing dimension A includes a 16-1/2 in. clearance for
standoffs on firebox. After installing firebox into framing, the
finished wall surface must cover the 16-1/2 in. opening above
the firebox.

Before completing the framing and installing fireplace, provide a
path for water drainage out of the fireplace.
Determine if the optional accessory drain pan will be used. See
Page 13. If the drain pan will be installed, follow the instructions
provided with the drain pan kit to install it at this point.
Installation
1.
Choose installation location.
2. Construct the support framing for the fireplace. See framing
dimensions, Figure 12. See Clearances, Pages 6 and 7.
3. Locate the nailing flanges in the installation envelope and
attach them to the sides of the fireplace with two #10-32x1/2
hex screws each. The flanges have three positions to
accommodate the wall board being installed over the face of
the unit (clean face) or flush with the face of the unit with
1/2 in. or 5/8 in. thick wall board. See Figure 13.
4. Bend the nailing flange tabs out at right angles. For see-
through fireplaces only bend the tabs on one side of the
fireplace to allow the tabs on the other side to clear the
enclosure framing.
5. Lift the fireplace and set into the frame. Slide the fireplace
back until nailing flanges meet the frame. Secure the fire-
place to the frame with one #8x1 drywall screw each. For
see-thru fireplaces, bend the back side nailing flanges out
and right angles and secure with one #8x1 drywall screw
each.
