INSPECTION
You need to perform a thorough inspection of your harness
before every use to ensure that it is undamaged and safe
to use.
Inspect your harness using these steps below and
immediately discontinue its use and destroy if any of these
conditions exist:
There are ANY doubts as to the condition of the
harness.
Any damage, holes, cuts, colour changes or
discoloration, missing or cut threads, melting,
swelling or cracks on any part of the harness both on
the inside and out.
Orange showing through any part of the belay loop
or tie-in points on the waist or leg loops.
Buckles have deep scratches, cracks, dents,
corrosion, deformation or any visible damage.
The harness has been exposed to a major stress
such as a big fall.
The harness has been exposed to environmental
factors (excess ultraviolet light, salt water, extreme
heat, etc.) or chemical factors (petroleum, oils,
lubricants, acids, etc.), whether or not there is visible
damage or colour changes.
CARE
Transport the harness in the supplied bag and always keep
it away from sharp objects, ice screws, crampons, direct
sunlight, corrosive substances (battery acids, gasoline,
automobile motor fluids, solvents, bleach, etc.), or any
other potentially damaging objects. Store the harness in
a dry, dark place that is free of any contaminants. If the
harness becomes wet or icy, air dry it away from direct
sunlight before storing or using. You may hand wash the
harness in warm water with a mild soap (never use bleach)
and allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight. Never
make any modification to the harness: this includes sewing,
altering, melting threads or webbing, dying, colouring or
marking any part of the harness, and modifying a buckle
in any way.
