This guide must be translated by the dealer into the language of the country of use, except if the translation is provided by the manufacturer. For your
safety, comply strictly with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
Kratos Safety cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring as a result of use other than provided for in this notice; do not use this
equipment beyond its capabilities! The user is responsible for the risks to which he or she is exposed. People who cannot assume these responsibilities
should not use this product. Before using this equipment, you must read and understand all usage instructions in this guide.
USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
A retractable fall arrester is personal protective equipment to prevent falls from height. It is specifically recommended in situations such as maintenance
in a very dirty environment (waste incineration, petrol production, wet environment, etc.). It must be assigned to a single user (it can only be used by
one person at a time). When the user is moving (ascending/descending), the cable winds and unwinds around a pulley. The cable is kept taut thanks to a
counter spring. In the event of a fall, a system prevents the cable from unwinding and instantly stops the user from falling further. This 'airtight' reel has
been designed so that the main mechanism (the locking and braking system in the event of a fall) is enclosed in an airtight chamber (IP 68) protecting
the essential components from dirt, water and aggressive products, etc.
User safety relies on the ongoing effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet. The readability
of the product's markings must be checked regularly.
The upper safety point must be attached to an anchorage point by a connector (EN 362); the other end (swivel connector on cable) must be attached to
a safety point on a harness.
It is prohibited to use the device with sharp edges, structures with small diameters and corrosion as this can affect the performance of the cable or the
webbing, unless these are adequately protected.
The device's anchorage point must be positioned above the user and comply with standard EN 795 (minimum resistance: R > 12 kN – EN 795:2012).
Ensure that the general set-up limits swinging in the event of a fall, and that the work is performed to limit the risk and the height of a fall.
For safety reasons and before each use, make sure that, in case of a fall, there are no obstacles to prevent the normal movement of the cable or the
webbing.
The clearance must be at least: 3 m beneath the user's feet*
* : For safety reasons, it is essential to check the clearance on the work site before each use and during use, to be sure that there will be no collision with
the ground or an obstacle in the event of a fall. Please pay special attention to moving obstacles (e.g. a lorry or a cherry picker, etc.).
HORIZONTAL USE PROHIBITED
Use the product between: -30°C / 50°C.
It is advisable not to suddenly let go of the cable when the cable is unwound; it is better to assist with the rewinding process. Before and during use, we
recommend that you make the necessary arrangements for a safe rescue, should this be required.
This equipment must only be used by trained, competent and healthy persons, or under the supervision of a trained and competent person. Warning!
Certain medical conditions can affect user safety, if in doubt please contact your doctor.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user's safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (<
-30°C or > 50°C), prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system
during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting, etc.
Before each use, check that the locking system is working and that the fall indicator has not been activated (if installed on the connector). Check that the
cable is not cut, frayed or burnt. Check that the metal parts are not deformed or oxidised, and check that the connectors are working properly (locking/
opening). The protective casings must be in place and undamaged. The markings must remain legible. If there is any doubt as to the condition of the
device, or after a fall, it must not be reused (marking it with the words "DO NOT USE" is recommended) and must be returned to the manufacturer or
to a qualified person authorised by the manufacturer.
Do not remove, add or replace any component of the product.
Chemical products: Put the system out of service if it comes into contact with chemicals, solvents or fuels which could affect its operation.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

Material: Cable: stainless steel, diam. 4.5 mm / Connector: stainless steel / Casings: glass fibre reinforced polyamide.
Break > 12 kN
Insulated cable in the mechanism guaranteeing an IP 68 dust tight seal that is resistant to extended submersion.
COMPATIBILITY FOR USE:
The device is for use with a fall arrest system as defined in the product data sheet (see standard EN363) to guarantee that the dynamic force exerted on
the user during the arrest of a fall is no greater than 6 kN. A fall arrest harness (EN361) is the only body-gripping device that may be used. It can be
dangerous to create one's own fall protection system in which each safety function can interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is important
to read the recommendations on using each component in the system before use.
INSPECTION:
The recommended service life of the equipment is 10 years (in accordance with the annual examination by a competent person authorised by KRATOS
SAFETY) for devices with a cable lanyard, but it may be increased or reduced according to use and/or the results of the annual inspections. The
equipment should be inspected if there is any doubt, or following a fall, and at least annually, by the manufacturer or a competent person authorised
by the manufacturer to check its strength and therefore the user's safety. The product's factsheet must be completed (in writing) after each check; the
inspection date and the date of the next inspection must be indicated on the factsheet, it is also advisable to specify the date of the next inspection on
the product.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE: (These instructions must be strictly observed)
During transportation, keep the equipment away from any cutting edges and keep it in its packaging. Clean with water, wipe with a cloth and hang in a
ventilated room to dry naturally, ensuring that it is away from any direct light or source of heat; the same applies for elements that may have become wet
during use. The system must be stored in its packaging in a cool, dry and ventilated room.
