RECARO Console
87.02.15A/25A
Attention
It is only possible and permitted to use this console in
conjunction with an individual pair of rails. The rails are
not part of the console and must be bought separately.
Please note:
It takes care, patience and precision to install a seat. For
the sake of your own safety, it is essential that the seat
is installed and electrically connected by appropriately
trained specialists if you do not have the necessary skills
or tools to fit it yourself.
Before installing the seat, make sure that you have
parked your vehicle safely. It is also important for you to
maintain a firm footing throughout the installation work.
Attention: Vehicles with a side airbag
Before starting the installation work, you must check
whether your vehicle has been fitted with a side airbag
(SAB) integrated into the seat.
Please refer to the information in the operating instruc-
tions to determine what equipment is fitted in your
vehicle. In addition, seats with a side airbag have a cor-
responding label on the door side of the backrest (such
as "airbag").
If your vehicle is fitted with a side airbag, the installation
work may only be carried out by trained specialists. To
dismantle a seat with a side airbag, you also require a
disabling kit adapted to your vehicle so that the functions
of the equipment remaining in the vehicle are not dis-
rupted. Observe the mounting instructions provided with
the disabling kit under all circumstances.
Child seats on the passenger seat
It is essential to follow the instructions in your vehicle's
operating instructions.
If possible, children should never be transported on the
passenger seat. This also applies to RECARO seats on
the passenger side.
- Passenger airbag cannot be disabled
If the passenger airbag cannot be disabled, no reboard
child seats (child seats facing away from the direction
of travel) may be transported on the passenger side.
- Standard passenger seats with child seat detector
If the standard passenger seat has a child seat detec-
tor, it must be deactivated when a RECARO seat is
installed. The passenger seat airbag is no longer
disabled! On no account may reboard child seats be
used, even if this was possible in the standard seat!
- Cars with deactivation for passenger airbags
Reboard child seats may only be used when the pas-
senger seat airbag has been deactivated (key-operated
switch or on-board computer menu) (as with the stand-
ard passenger seat).
Attention: Vehicles with a seat-occupancy detector
in the passenger seat
If your vehicle has a seat occupancy detector for the
front passenger seat, it is removed when a RECARO
seat is installed. In order to avoid a restraint system fail-
ure, the seat-occupancy detector must be deactivated by
a workshop.

Removing the standard seat

1.
Before removal (Figures A to E1/E2)
First look for a suitable power connection if your
RECARO seat has electrical adjustment facilities or a
seat heater.
• Open the cover of the fuse box (front left on the instru-
ment panel) and unlock it (Figure A).
• Loosen the black fuse holder and remove the rear
cover (Figure B).
• Select a free location for the new fuse (Figure C).
• Connect the cable from the rear to the supplied con-
tact.
• Insert the fuse and the contact into the fuse holder
(Figure D).
• Guide the cable downwards towards the sill, along
under the sill cover and under the carpet to the seat
(Figures E1/E2).
• Select a connection point under the instrument panel
for the earth connecting cable.
• Guide the earth connecting cable downwards towards
the sill, along under the sill cover and under the carpet
to the seat.
• A polythene bag containing the mounting instructions
and the installation parts for the electrical installation is
supplied with the seat.
Attention
Do not insert the fuse yet!
Attention
Your vehicle is fitted with belt tensioners/airbags. The
following precautions must be taken before removing the
standard seat:
• Remove the ignition key and do not re-insert it until the
conversion work has been completed.
• Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and
leave the battery disconnected until the conversion
work has been completed.
• After disconnecting the battery, wait for 20 minutes
before starting to remove the seat so that the capaci-
tors of the control unit of the belt tensioner/airbag have
had time to discharge.
These capacitors can cause the belt tensioner/airbag
to be triggered if the 20-minute waiting period is not ob-
served. The belt tensioner/airbag must be replaced by a
new one every time it is triggered.
