using ground coffee. This should also be
done if the appliance has not been used for
an extended period of time, and after
descaling.
General information
- Scales on the water containers facilitate
filling them with the correct amount of
clean water. With a dual-scale, the left
scale is used for regular-sized cups of
approx.125 ml, while the right scale is
used for smaller cups. Make sure that the
indicated maximum is not exceeded.
To prevent possible damage to the
sensitive insulating glass layer inside the
heat-retaining carafe (caused by
'temperature shock' at contact with hot
liquid), the carafe should be rinsed with
hot water before the brewing cycle is
started.
The Duo Coffee-Maker will remain
switched on until the switches are set to
their off-positions.
If several consecutive brewing cycles are
required, switch off the coffee maker
after each cycle and let it cool down for
approx. 5 minutes.
Important note: When filling the
appliance with fresh water shortly after a
brewing cycle is completed, there is a
danger of scalding from hot water or
steam escaping through the water outlet.

Open the water container lid, fill the
container with the desired quantity of clean,
cold water (using the heat-retaining carafe)
and close the lid.

required. For smaller cups, about 4g = 1 - 1
teaspoons will be required. Close the swing-
out holder afterwards.
- Preparing the glass carafe:
Make sure to fit the aroma protection lid
onto the heat-retaining carafe before placing
it in the appliance.
- Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/Off switch to turn on
the side of the coffee maker to be used. The
filtration cycle starts.
- Removing the freshly brewed coffee:
Wait until all the water has passed through
the filter before removing the carafe from
the appliance. Take off the aroma-
protection lid from the heat-retaining carafe,
and use the proper lid to close it.
- Switching off the coffee maker:
Switch off the active side of the appliance
after use and remove the plug from the wall
socket
Making tea
- Filling with water:
Open the container lid and fill the container
with the desired quantity of clean, cold
water. Caution: Do not put in more than
max. 7 cups of water. Close the lid.
- Inserting the tea filter:
Insert a tea filter into the heat-retaining
carafe.
- Filling with tea leaves:
Put the tea leaves into the filter.
Compared with traditional tea-brewing, only
a reduced amount of tea leaves should be
used, as the yield of the leaves is higher when
using this appliance.
- Preparing the glass carafe:
Make sure to fit the aroma protection lid
onto the heat-retaining carafe before placing
it in the appliance. The filter holder should
remain closed.
- Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/Off switch to turn on
the side of the coffee maker to be used. The
filtration cycle starts.
