Installing Graphics or PCI Cards
1. Power off the system, remove the access panel, and attach an antistatic wrist strap
as described in "Preparing for Installation" on page en-24.
2. Use a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver to remove an empty card slot's metal filler panel
from the chassis back panel (see
3. Position the card into the chassis above the empty connector on the motherboard.
Note – If you are installing an Expert3D card, do not install it to the 66-MHz PCI
slot (the bottom slot). The Expert3D card does not operate in the 66-MHz slot.
Note – Some stereo graphics cards occupy two motherboard slots. For special
installation instructions for these cards, refer to the installation guide that is shipped
with the card.
4. Position the card's metal bracket tab into the chassis back panel opening; position
the opposite end of the card into the card guide on the fan bracket so that the card
is aligned evenly with the motherboard connector.
5. Push the card straight into the motherboard connector until it is fully seated.
6. Install the screw that secures the card's bracket tab to the chassis back panel.
7. Continue with "Finishing the Installation" on page en-37.
