When the vacuum is operating:
-
the airtight seals will be checked to see that they
are truly tight;
-
the efficiency of the safety devices and protections
will be checked;
-
the vacuum will be subjected to a general
operating test.
Test bench inspections
The vacuum is lastly connected to the test bench where
the following tests are conducted:
-
efficiency of the grounding system;
-
measurement of the insulation degree between
the phase and ground;
-
rigidity test;
-
correct operation at the set voltage value of the
vacuum and at nominal vacuum.

Checks and inspections on start-up

The customer should proceed with the following
inspections to ensure that the vacuum has not been
damaged during transport.

Before starting:

-
check that the mains voltage value corresponds to
that for which the machine is preset (see "warning
plates");
-
check that all warning and danger plates are
affixed and legible;
-
check that all protections are installed and
efficient.
When the vacuum is operating:
-
Check that all the air seals are perfectly tight.
-
Check that all fixed protections are efficient.
-
Proceed with suction tests using the same
material as that used during work.
This will ascertain whether all parts of the vacuum
operate correctly.

Routine maintenance

Strictly comply with the following operations to ensure
that the vacuum remains in a constantly reliable
condition.
Before each work shift:
-
Check that all warning and danger plates are
affixed and legible.
Replace them if they are damaged or incomplete.
-
Turn the vacuum on and check filter efficiency with
the gauge (fig. 3).
If the pointer is in the red area, clean the filter or
check the pipes.
Every 200 hours service (monthly)
-
Make sure that the seals are tight. There must be
no leaks.
-
Check the condition of the suction hose and
accessories. They must not be torn, slit or broken
since this would lower the suction efficiency.
-
Check that the powering cable has not been
damaged, torn or crushed.
If this is the case, it should be immediately
replaced.
-
Check the condition of the primary filter.
It must be undamaged, i.e. there must be no tears,
holes or other damage.
Every 2000 hours service (yearly)
-
Check the condition of the suction unit.
-
Have the vacuum completely overhauled by the
Manufacturer or by an authorized After-Sales
Service Centre.
Note
This maintenance is compulsory for the "ATEX"
vacuum.

Checking the condition of the suction fan

Periodically check to make sure that there are no dust
deposits on the turbine casing "2" (fig. 4) when work is
carried out in particularly dusty environments.
If there is dust or oil mist in the environment, make
sure that the cooling holes of cap "1" (fig. 4) do not
become clogged. This could prevent the motor from
being efficiently cooled and lead to activaction of the
magnetothermic protector or, worse still, cause the
motor to actually break down.
