Cleaning/Replacement

For the intervention timing see chapter
13.
NOTE! Filters need to be cleaned/re-
placed more often if the machine is
working on very dusty ground.
Remove/install the air filters as follows:
[B&S Vanguard] (33)
1.
Carefully clean the area around the air filter
cover.
2.
Disassemble the air filter cover (33:A) by re-
moving the two clips.
3.
Remove the filter assembly (33:B). The
pre-filter is located above the air filter. Prevent
dirt from entering the carburettor. Clean the
air filter housing.
4.
Clean the paper filter by gently tapping it
against a flat surface. If it is very dirty, replace
the filter.
5.
Clean the pre-filter. If it is very dirty, replace it.
6.
Reassembly in reverse order to disassembly.

1. Clean the area around the filter cover (34:C).

2. Remove the cover (34:C) by unscrewing the
two knobs (34:D).

2. Open the cover (34:C) by turning the opening
knob (34:D).
3. Remove the filtering element (34:E, 34:F).
4. Remove the foam pre-filter (34:F) from the
cartridge (34:E).
5. Tap the cartridge (34:E) on a solid surface
and blow with compressed air from the inside
to remove dust and debris.
6. Wash the foam pre-filter (34:F) with water
and detergent and allow it to air dry.
7. Clean the inside of the filter housing (37:G)
from dust and debris, taking care to close the
intake duct with a rag (34:H) to prevent them
from entering the engine.
8. Remove the rag (34:H), arrange the filtering
element (34:E, 34:F) in its housing and reas-
semble the cover (34:C).

detergents or any other products to clean the
cartridge.

should NOT be greased.

Replace the spark plug

For the intervention timing see chapter
13.
For this maintenance, see also the
engine manual supplied with the ma-
chine.
Before removing the spark plug, clean the area
surrounding its installation point.
For the type of spark plug and electrode dis-
tances, see "0 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
TABLE"
9.11.3

Air vent cleaning

For the intervention timing see chapter
13.
The engine is air cooled.
If the cooling system is blocked, the engine could
be damaged.
Make sure the cooling air vents are not obstruct-
ed.
A more thorough cleaning of the cooling system
is performed during each Basic Check.

9.12 LUBRICATION (31)
