2.3
Requirements for persons who work on the overflow valve
If the ov erflow valve is used incorrectly, persons could be seriously injured or killed. In order to av oid
accidents, all persons who work with the v alv e must meet the following minimum requirements.
They are phy sically capable of controlling the overflow v alve.
They can saf ely carry out the work on the ov erflow v alve within the scope of these operating
instructions.
They understand how the ov erf low v alve works within the scope of their work and can recognise and
av oid the hazards associated with the work.
They hav e understood the operating instructions and are able to implement the information of the
operating instructions accordingly.
2.4

Personal protective equipment

Missing or unsuitable personal protective equipment increases the risk of damage to health and injuries to
people.
The f ollowing protectiv e equipment is to be prov ided and worn during work:
Protectiv e clothing
Saf ety shoes
Set out and use additional protectiv e equipment depending on the utilisation and the media:
Saf ety gloves
Ey e protection
Ear protection
Wear the specif ied personal protective equipment for all work on the ov erflow valve.
2.5
Additional equipment and spare parts
Additional equipment and spare parts not conf orming to the manufacturer's requirements can adversely
af f ect the operational safety of the overflow v alve and cause accidents.
In order to ensure operational saf ety, use original parts or parts that conform to the
manuf acturer's requirements. If in doubt, have these confirmed by the dealer or manufacturer.
2.6
Adhere to the technical thresholds
If the technical thresholds for the overflow valve are not adhered to, the valve may be damaged, accidents
may be caused and people may be seriously injured or killed.
Adhere to the thresholds. See section 4 "Description of the overflow valve".
2.7
Safety instructions
DANGER
Hazardous medium.
Escaping operating medium can lead to poisoning, burns and caustic burns!
Wear the prescribed protectiv e equipment.
Prov ide suitable collecting containers.
Stand to the side of or behind the v alv e during lif ting.
The outlet must be f ree.
Flammable media and dusts
Risk of sustaining burns!
Av oid potential sources of ignition in the immediate vicinity of the overflow valve.
Attach warning signs.
Risk of injury due to pressure
Injury due to the v alve being f lung away!
Depressurise and empty all supply lines before dismounting the valve.
Make sure that the sy stem is depressurised.
Secure against being pressurised again.
Do not bend ov er the v alve when dismounting.
