Installation and operating instructions for irrigation system AWS 25
7. Operating instructions
Ensure that only new batteries are used.
Regularly clean the irrigation clock of dirt. Take into account the cleaning indications in point 9.
Ensure that water cannot reach the battery box.
Always turn the cap firmly.
Operate with cold water only.
The water input pressure may amount to 6 bar (90 psi) max. With higher pressure a pressure-
reducing valve must be used. If damaged by positive pressure the warranty claim expires.
Never take the irrigation clock apart, since the warranty claim shall thereby expire.
Within frost-endangered areas (external area, greenhouse, etc.) the entire plant must be dismantled
during the winter. No warranty for frost damage is ensured.
Remove the batteries if the irrigation clock is taken out of service for a longer period of time. You can
hereby avoid an unnecessary discharging of the batteries.
A water filter must be used when using with collected rain water or pond water so as to avoid
accumulation of mud on the irrigation clock and/or the discharge hoses. No warranty is guaranteed
for damage resulting there from.
8. Operation of the irrigation clock
The rotary switches can be turned both in and against the clockwise direction without causing any
damage to the mechanism.
The following irrigation intervals can be selected: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 72 hours or once per week.
The following irrigation running times can be selected: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes.
Tests have demonstrated that the best results are obtained if you select small irrigation intervals with
short irrigation running times. This naturally depends upon the kind of plants. If you are in doubt ask a
gardener.
Program examples:
Water twice a day → set "12 "
Water each 2nd day → set "48 "
The irrigation starts at the expiration of the irrigation interval set. Example: If you have set the rotary
button "frequency" on 1 hr., irrigation starts 1 hour after you have set the clock and "waters" according
to the time set on the "runtime" rotary button.
Important: Ensure that you do not set the irrigation running time higher than the irrigation interval
(frequency) otherwise you will have a permanent irrigation. Example: → 120 min (run time) and 2 hr.
(frequency) will result in permanent irrigation.
Time delay function:
You can retard the irrigation starting time by using the time delay function. Take a pen and press the
"time delay " button (see fig. 5). A maximum delay time of 12 hours is possible. The delay is made in 1
hour steps. If you want to retard by 3 hours, press the button three times.
Battery change:
The LED display (see fig. 5) shows you the status of the battery. In the case of sufficient capacity the
LED flashes constantly. If the capacity diminishes and a reliable function cannot be ensured any longer,
the LED shines permanently. The valve shall be closed in this case (make battery changes). The LED
display expires if the battery is completely flat.
Water once a day → set "24 "
Water once a week → set "week"
