2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to the directive for electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
The heat generated within the unit must be carried
off by air circulation; never cover the air vents of the
housing.
Do not insert anything into the air vents! This may
result in a defect of the unit.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
No liability for any damage will be accepted if the
unit is used for other purposes than originally intend-
ed, if it is not correctly connected or operated or not
repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively,
take it to a local recycling plant for a disposal which
is not harmful to the environment.

3 Applications

The B/W quad processor TVSP-43 is designed for
applications in video surveillance systems. It is a com-
bination of a video splitter and a camera switcher
which allows monitoring of four camera pictures in real
time on one monitor:
1. simultaneous display as reduced black-and-white
pictures on a screen divided into four segments in
quad mode
2. successive display as individual (black-and-white or
colour) pictures in automatic sequential switching
(picture dwell time 3 seconds)
The quad processor will automatically adapt itself to
the video standard (CCIR or EIA) used by the surveil-
lance system – also see chapter 4.2.

4 Setting the Unit into Operation

4.1 Connecting the video inputs and outputs
Connect the video outputs of the cameras (max. 4) to
the input jacks VIDEO INPUT (6).
Connect the video input of the monitor to the output
jack SWITCH (7). An additional monitor or a video
recorder for recording can be connected to the output
jack QUAD (8). This allows permanent display or
recording of all camera pictures in quad mode (inde-
pendent of the selected operating mode).
4.2 Selecting the video standard (CCIR/EIA)
Upon connection of the quad processor to the power
supply, it will automatically recognize the video stand-
ard used via the video signal available at video input 1
and will automatically adapt itself to it.
In addition, it is also possible to adjust the unit
manually to the video standard used:
For adjusting it to the standard CCIR, keep the
buttons QUAD and
(min. 1 s) and connect the unit to the supply voltage.
For adjusting it to the standard EIA, keep the
buttons QUAD and
(min. 1 s) and connect the unit to the supply voltage.
4.3 Connecting the unit to the power supply
Connect a regulated power supply unit with an output
voltage of 12 V
and a power rating of minimum
500 mA (e. g. the MONACOR power supply unit
PS-1204ST) to the low-voltage jack (4). For connec-
tion, a low-voltage plug 5.5/2.1 (outside/inside diame-
ter) is required. Always observe the correct polarity:
the inner contact must be positive.
Connect the power supply unit to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz). Upon connection to the supply volt-
age, the quad processor is ready for operation.
