Sensitivity adjustment
Analogue capacitive sensors are equipped with a 20-turn spindle potentiometer. This allows
adjustment of an application specific operating range between the minimum distance "0 mm"
and the type-typical maximum value. Consequently, the full output current range (I
mA or I
> 20(4) mA or output voltage range 0(10) V...10(0) V is always present, regardless

of the required measuring distance.
Series 80 (KAS-80...)
The analogue sensors of series 80 are designed with a 2-colour LED which facilitates adjust-
ment. Outside the operating range yellow light is emitted to display operational readiness.
Within the operating range the LED is green. In the uncovered state the output current value
is > 20(4) mA or 0(10)V and moves with the reduction of the object distance toward 4(20)
mA or. 10(0) V.
The value to be adjusted for the analogue sensors is the desired operating range. This
means filling level or distance of the active surface to the object to be detected. This value
must be within the maximum possible operating range (see specification sheet). The MIN-
value is preset and only the MAX-value needs to be adjusted.
When the device is properly installed and functioning, position the object / material to be
detected in the desired maximum position and adjust the operating range by means of the
potentiometer screw until the LED changes from yellow to green. If the LED is already green
when positioning the object / material, turn the potentiometer screw left
yellow. After that turn the potentiometer screw right
green = 20 mA (4 mA) or 10 V (0 V), model depended.
The setting is completed.
We recommend to use a multimeter for the adjustment.
