Measuring temperature of children above the age of
three years and adults
Measure the temperature in the rectum for the most accurate result when measuring
the temperature of children under the age of three years. See the instructions for rectal
measurement above. You can also select one of the other two options to measure your
or your child's temperature. When you measure in the armpit or under the tongue, the
result is usually 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) to 1 °C (1.8 °F) lower than actual body temperature.
Note: The beep sound is only for the rectal measurement. Do not stop at the beep
when using the thermometer in the armpit or under the tongue. Ignore any beep and
wait for 5 minutes, with the thermometer at the measurement location, before reading
the measurement from the display.
Measurement in the armpit
For armpit measurements:
1 Follow steps 1 to 2 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
2 Make sure your or your child's armpit is dry. Place the tip of the digital thermometer
in the armpit.
3 Press the arm against the body to hold the digital thermometer in place for
5 minutes. Ignore any beeps during this time. After 5 minutes, the display shows the
temperature measurement.
4 Follow steps 8 to 9 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
Measurement under the tongue
For measurements under the tongue:
1 Follow steps 1 to 2 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
2 Place the tip of the digital thermometer under your or your child's tongue and keep it
in place for 5 minutes. Make sure the lips are sealed.
3 Ignore any beeps during this time. After 5 minutes, the display shows the
temperature measurement.
4 Follow steps 8 to 9 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
Results may vary based on the individual and the method you used.

Children's temperature
A child's temperature normally is between 36.5 °C (97.7 °F) and 37.5 °C (99.5 °F).
A child's temperature varies depending on age, activity, time of day, etc.
Some illnesses do not have high temperature as a symptom.

Important

Temperature measurement is not a substitute for going to your doctor. State the
measurement method when you report your child's temperature to a healthcare
professional. This thermometer is intended as an aid. Never leave your child alone. Always
make sure there is someone present to look after the child and take care of its needs.
Features
Celsius (°C)/Fahrenheit (°F)
You can select Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F) to measure the temperature. When the
digital thermometer is off, press and hold the on/off button for 2 seconds. This changes
the measurement unit.
Last temperature recall
The digital thermometer has a memory function. When you switch on the digital
thermometer, the display shows the last measured temperature for 2 seconds.
When the display shows ‚Lo', you can perform the measurement.
Battery-low signal
The battery is low when you see a dot in the bottom right corner of the display
(Fig. 16). You can no longer measure the temperature correctly. Replace the battery
(see ‚Remove and insert batteries').
Cleaning
Clean with warm water and some washing-up liquid.
- Clean the digital thermometer and its parts gently to avoid damage.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Do not use anti-bacterial cleaning agents.
Do not use chemical solvents. A very high concentration of cleaning agents may cause
plastic to crack.
- Do not immerse the digital thermometer in alcohol or any other liquid.
- Never clean the digital thermometer in a dishwasher, microwave sterilizer or by
boiling in water.
Storage
Put the protection cap on the digital thermometer after use. Store it in a clean and
dry place.

Remove and insert batteries
1 Press the top and the bottom of the battery cover. Pull gently to remove it (Fig. 17).
2 Use a pen to remove the battery (Fig. 18). Do not pull the battery tray more than
1 cm out of the digital thermometer. The sensor can break off.
3 Dispose of the battery in a proper way.
4 Insert a new battery (Fig. 19).
5 Press the battery cover back onto the digital thermometer until it clicks into place
(Fig. 20).
Error signal
If the digital thermometer does not work properly, the display shows 'Err'. Remove
the batteries and wait 1 minute. Insert the batteries again and switch the digital
thermometer back on.
Additional baby care products
Nasal aspirator
Warnings:
- Never use the nasal aspirator in the child's mouth or ears.
- Never point the tip directly in the center of the nostril.
1 Remove the cap of the nasal aspirator.
2 Squeeze the aspirator bulb and place the tip gently into the child's nostril and tilt the
tip to the side. Be careful not to insert the aspirator into the child's nose too far.
3 Release the bulb slowly to let the suction draw mucus out of the child's nose.
4 Repeat the process with the other nostril.
Cleaning
1 Disassemble all parts of the nasal aspirator and wash them in warm water with
washing-up liquid.
2 Clean the nasal aspirator in boiling water for 10 minutes and dry it afterwards.
Finger toothbrush
Place the finger toothbrush on your fingertip to massage the baby's gums gently.
Cleaning
Clean with a sterilizer or boiling water. Let it cool down and dry.
Brush and comb
Brush/comb the baby's hair from root to tip.
Tip: Carefully keep a hand on the roots while brushing or combing to avoid pulling the
baby's scalp.
Cleaning
Clean with warm water and some washing up liquid. Rinse them thoroughly and let
them dry.
Nail cutter and scissors
Be careful not to cut the nails too close to the baby's skin.
Tip: We advise you to cut the baby's nails after a bath when the nails are soft, or when
the baby sleeps.
Cleaning
Wipe the nail cutter and the scissors with a damp cloth and dry them.
Note: You can sterilize the nail cutter and the scissors by wiping their cutting edges
with alcohol.
Emery boards
Gently glide the emery board across the baby's nails.
Pouch
Save all items in the pouch and store them in a dry place.

Das Digitalthermometer ist für den Gebrauch in einer häuslichen Umgebung bestimmt.
Das Digitalthermometer misst Ihre Körpertemperatur oder die Ihres Kindes im Rektum,
unter der Zunge oder unter den Achseln. Bei Kindern unter drei Jahren empfehlen wir,
das Digitalthermometer nur im Rektum zu verwenden.
Wichtige Sicherheitsinformationen
Lesen Sie diese wichtigen Informationen vor dem Gebrauch des Geräts sorgfältig durch,
und bewahren Sie sie zur späteren Verwendung auf.
Warnhinweise
- Bewahre das Gerät außerhalb der Reichweite von Säuglingen, Kindern und Haustieren

Messen der Temperatur bei Kindern unter drei Jahren
Rektale Messung
Hinweis: Messen Sie die Temperatur im Rektum, um ein möglichst genaues Ergebnis
zu erhalten, wenn Sie die Temperatur von Kindern unter drei Jahren messen.
1 Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe vom Digitalthermometer. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass
der Metallsensor an der flexiblen Spitze fest auf dem Digitalthermometer sitzt.
2 Schalten Sie das Digitalthermometer ein, indem Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter drücken.
Alle Elemente des Displays leuchten kurz auf. Warten Sie, bis auf dem Display „Lo"
erscheint (siehe ‚Abrufen der zuletzt gemessenen Temperatur').
3 Geben Sie auf Wasser basierendes Gleitgel auf die Spitze des Digitalthermometers.
4 Legen Sie das Kind auf den Bauch oder auf die Seite.
5 Halten Sie mit der einen Hand die Pobacken des Kindes auseinander. Führen Sie mit
der anderen Hand vorsichtig die Spitze des Thermometers nicht weiter als 12 mm
(1/2 Zoll) in das Rektum ein. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass der Metallprüfkopf des
Thermometers vollständig eingeführt ist. Wenn Sie Widerstand spüren, hören Sie
sofort auf. Drücken Sie die flexible Spitze nicht zu weit in das Rektum.
6 Halten Sie das Kind so fest, dass es sich nicht umdrehen kann, während sich das
Digitalthermometer im Rektum befindet.
7 Halten Sie das Digitalthermometer in dieser Position, bis die °C/°F-Anzeige zu blinken
aufhört und das Digitalthermometer piept.
