Equipment
1 Dust Cover
1 Spare Tungsten Bulb, 220/230 Volt, 20 Watt, for PA 05
1 Battery Recharger for PA 05 LED
Intended use of the microscope
The microscope PA 05 is particularly designed for teaching pupils microscopic viewing. It is a scientific device and not a toy.

Directions for use

a) Preparations: Setting up the microscope
Take the microscope out of its Styrofoam wrapping and put it onto a stable and level working surface.
b) Work Instructions
Illumination
The model PA 05 works with a tungsten bulb (220/230 Volt, 20 Watt) imbedded in the base. This bulb has an average operat-
ing time of 3000 working hours.
The model PA 05 LED is equipped with LED lights. The electricity for the lighting is stored in rechargeable batteries. The
light of the LED bulbs hardly heats liquid specimens. This bulb has an average operating time of 100 000 working hours. The
lighting is switched on at the back of the base. The rechargeable batteries are best recharged overnight.
Power supply
The model PA 05 LED can be connected to a normal power socket or used cable-free with the rechargeable batteries. One
battery charge lasts for about 10 operating hours. The included recharger can only be connected to a power circuit of 220
Volt. The recharger is protected against overcharging. First connect the recharger to the microscope, and then connect it to
the power circuit. Should the rechargeable batteries totally be discharged, please recharge them overnight. The batteries
can only be recharged when the microscope is switched off. Should the rechargeable batteries be defective and need to be
changed, please contact place of purchase.
The model PA 05 only operates with a power network of 220 Volt.
Placing the microscope slide
Place the specimen holder provided with a sample object onto the microscope stage (size 9,5 x 9,5 cm), and fasten it careful-
ly with the help of the flexible spring clips.
Adjusting the image sharpness
Start by viewing your object with a four times magnification. Turn the knob for coarse adjusting until you receive a clear
picture. Then use the knob for fine adjusting to achieve an optimal sharpness. Proceed the same way with every other
object. Pay attention that the object does not touch the objective lens. In order to avoid damage to the objective lens or to
the specimen preparation, the microscope is equipped with a specimen protection. This prevents the stage from being turned
up too far and thus the objective lens pressing onto the object. The specimen protection is already adjusted correctly, but – if
necessary – can be readjusted with the screw on the top side of the stage. Furthermore, the 40x objective is spring loaded,
to avoid the specimen being pressed.
Regulating the light intensity
The luminance can be adjusted through the different openings of the aperture plate. Light influences the viewing quality,
especially with high magnification.
Changing the objective
When you reached the optimal top view with the smallest magnification (4x), turn the objective lens piece to the next magni-
fication (10x). The objective lens piece should click into position. Only a slight adjustment should be necessary, to receive a
clear picture again. Should you increase the magnification further; the top view will be improved by adjusting the light.
