Using the MC200Air With a Wired Network Connection
L
In some situations, connecting the MC200Air using a wired network connection will result in better
I
performance. When it is used wirelessly, the MC200Air competes for "bandwidth" (data volume capacity) with
S
H
the other "traffic" on your Wi-Fi network, such as video streaming or downloading any type of file. When the
data demands of the wireless devices on your network reach the data capacity limits of your Wi-Fi system,
"drop outs" and "freezes" and other types of interruptions can occur. A wired connection removes the MC200Air
from the wireless data load.
If the MC200Air is located near your (wireless) router, or near a wired network connection, you can connect it
directly to your network with an Ethernet cable. You'll just need an appropriate length "CAT 5" or "CAT 6" cable
with RJ45 connectors.
When the MC200Air is used this way, AirPlay (or DLNA) will function normally with a wireless (iOS) device or a
wired Ethernet connection to a computer. If you have more than one MC200Air, a combination of wireless and
wired systems may be used.

Using AirPlay

With iOS devices, you use the Music app to control music play. Once you
have connected the MC200Air to your network, the
appear on the iTunes screen. Touch the icon to display a list of output devices
– the iOS device and the other AirPlay connected systems. Touch the name
of a system to connect to it.
Note: There are numerous iOS apps, such as those that stream special radio channels, that will also display
the
AirPlay icon on their screen so you can select the MC200Air as your output device. If an app does not
display the
AirPlay icon, it may be necessary to go to iTunes, select the MC200Air from the AirPlay output
list, then return to your streaming app.
Also note that if the sound is paused or off for some time, it may be necessary to re-select the MC200Air.
iTunes on your computer can connect to several MC200Air systems
at the same time and individually control the volume of each system.
Click on the
icon at the bottom of the iTunes window. Then click
"Multiple Speakers . . . " from the pop up list. The Multiple Speakers
control box will open. Check the output systems you want to use
and adjust the volumes as needed.
Song Play Remote Control
In order to use the song control buttons on the remote control (Play,
Pause, etc.), you need to set up iTunes to allow for "audio control
from remote speakers. " From the iTunes menu on a iOS device select
Preferences. On a PC select Edit and then preference. Click on the
Devices icon at the top of the window. Then click on the check box
next to " Allow iTunes audio control from remote speakers". Then click
the OK button.
