Instructions for Use – Zero Gravity Balancers
2. Loosen the screws on the cable clamp (5), set the desired cable length, then retighten the
screws.
ADJUSTING THE LOAD
CAUTION!
7228
To make load adjustments, a 6-mm Allen wrench is required.
Press the Allen wrench into the shaft (8), then rotate wrench to set
the load as appropriate within the approved adjusting range.
X = maximum number of turns permitted in the "minus" direction,
starting from the factory-preset "maximum load" setting. (=> page 18)
7230/7231, 7235/36, 7241, 7245, 7248, 7251, 7261
To make load adjustments, the following tools are required:
17-mm socket wrench
Apply the wrench to the adjusting screw (10), then rotate to set the
load as appropriate within the approved adjusting range. However,
the following restrictions must be observed:
CAUTION!
NOTICE!
36
Prior to making load adjustments, attach your working load to the fully
retracted cable.
All zero gravity balancers are factory-preset to "maximum load".
Adjusting in the "minus" (-) direction reduces the load (spring tension).
Adjusting in the "plus" (+) direction increases the load (spring tension).
The correct setting is achieved when the suspended load can be effort-
lessly pulled into the desired position and remains in this position when
set free.
We recommend you to document your settings in writing in order to en-
sure that both the permissible "maximum load" and "minimum load"
limits are always respected when making readjustments. Regarding
these limits, it is essential to pay attention to the type-specific preload
information provided in the "X" column of the tables on pages 18 and 19
below. Failure to comply with this requirement can destroy the spring
inside the housing!
7228 only: Upon pressing the shaft (8) inwards, you'll feel the spring
preload acting on your adjusting tool, so be sure to hold the tool firmly!
For types 7235/36, 7241, and 7251: Setting the balancer to "minimum load"
is permitted only if the cable has been fully retracted or pulled out no
more than 1.0 m.
For type 7261: Setting the balancer to "minimum load" is permitted only if
the cable has been fully retracted or pulled out no more than 0.5 m.
The adjusting screw (10) acts on a transmission gear which in turn acts
on the shaft (8). To let you check at a glance how many turns of the shaft
(8) have been made, the cover disk (12) attached has been color-marked
next to the shaft (8) (in the case of type 7248, the disk has a small hole).
