7. Two hand operation.
When it is safe to start, press the engine
start switch (F) with one hand. Wait a few
seconds while the engine starts up and
creates a pressure in the hydraulic pump.
When it is safe to proceed you press the
two handles (C) down with both hands.
The log pusher (B) will compress the log
and push it against the wedge (J), which
splits the logs. When the logs have been
split you shall release both handles, this
will allow the log pusher (B) to withdraw.
8. Warning: If the log does not split immediately, do not force it by maintaining the
thrust for more than a few seconds. This can damage the tool. It is better to try
repositioning the log on the splitter or setting the log aside.
9. Stack as you are working. This will provide a safer working area, by keeping it
uncluttered you avod the danger of tripping or damaging the machine.
10. Remember to tighten the air escape valve (14) when you have finished
splitting.

Recommended size of wood to be split

The diameter of the log is only indicative. A small piece of wood can be difficult to split if it
has knots or if its fibres are very tough. A larger piece of wood can be split if its fibres are
smooth and loose.
Never force the log splitter to split more than 5 seconds with the cylinder under
pressure in order to split excessively hard wood. Overheated oil under pressure may
damage the machine. It is very important that if the log splitter does not split in the
first attempt, please stop the machine and rotate the log 90 degrees. If the wood still
cannot be split, it means that the hardness of the wood exceeds the capacity of the
machine and it must be rejected in order not to damage the log splitter.

We recommend the following oil for the hydraulic cylinder :

Or oil with corresponding viscosity.
