SAW CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTMENT
Proper saw chain tension is extremely important! and should be checked before starting and during any cutting
operation. Taking the time to make the necessary adjustments to the saw chain will result in better cutting performance
and extend the life of the chain.
ATTENTION: A new chain and bar must be readjusted after only 5 cuts. This is normal during the
running-in period, and the interval between future adjustments will be quickly extended.
TO ADJUST THE TENSION OF THE SAW CHAIN
1.
Loosen the retaining nuts on the bar so that they are tightened by hand.
2.
Hold the tip of the bar upwards, use the screwdriver to turn the adjusting screw on the guide bar clockwise
(to the left) to tighten the chain. Turning the screw counterclockwise (clockwise) loosens the chain on the
guide bar.
3.
After you have made the adjustment, move the saw by chaining the chain back and forth on the guide bar
to ensure that the chain moves freely and is in the proper sprocket/wheel mesh. Never move the chain with
unprotected hands or without gloves.
ATTENTION: If the chain is difficult to turn or if it is attached to the guide bar, there is too much
tension and has to be readjusted. To decrease the tension, slowly turn the adjusting screw
counterclockwise (clockwise). Move the chain back and forth until it moves freely.
4.
Hold the nose up, tighten the bar retaining nuts firmly.
OIL THE CHAIN
The saw chain is self-lubricating. The oil is spread over the chain as it is used. Make sure that there is an adequate
amount of oil in the oil tank. Always use chain and sprocket oil or similar saw chain oil.
