mm. Place the venting handle on the
decomposition vessel and lock
it in place by turning in a
clockwise direction.
As the screw lowers
(being turned to the right)
the lock valve of the decom-
position vessel is opened.
In this state, the
venting handle
cannot be separted
from the decompo-
sition vessel.
Check to make certain
the ground clamp
is fitted snugly in
the gas washing bottle
and slowly open the throttle valve. Observe the formation of bub-
bles and correct until the desired venting speed is achieved.
When the pressure has been entirely released from the decompo-
sition vessel, unscrew the venting screw and release the lock by
rotating the entire handle to the left. Close the throttle screw on the
venting valve.
Venting that is too rapid can result in damage to the
gas washing bottle.

Clean the capillary boring of the venting flask from time to time
10
through expansion with a decomposition vessel filled with pure oxy-
gen-filled without a gas washing bottle attached.
Check the condition of the sealing washer on the filling flask and repla-
ce it if necessary.
Flask replacement / removing the pressure spring: The venting head is
disassembled by loosening the three countersunk screws (Item 80)
located on it. The flask can then be completely removed.

Clean the venting handle from time to time by releasing the gas
pressure in a decomposition vessel filled with pure oxygen without
any washing bottle attached.
Check the condition of the O-ring seals on the throttle screw of the
valve as well as on the venting handle. These seals are subject to
natural wear and tear. If the system does not seal completely and
the seals show signs of mechanical wear,the must be replaced.
When ordering spare parts, please give the manufacturing number
shown on the type plate, the machine type and the name of the spare
part.
Please send in equipment for repair only after it has been cleaned and is
free from any materials which may constitute a health hazard. Use only
cleaning agents which have been approved by IKA to clean IKA devices. To
remove use:
Dyes
isopropyl alcohol
truction masterials
water containing tensid / isopropyl alcohol
Cosmetics
water containing tensid / isopropyl alcohol
Foodstuffs
water containing tensid
Fuels
water containing tensid
For materials which are not listed, please request information from
IKA. Wear the proper protective gloves during cleaning of the devices.
Before using another then the recommended method for cleaning or
decontamination, the user must ascertain with the manufacturer that
this method does not destroy the instrument.
