Calesco waterbed heating element
with electronic thermostat
CAREFULLY READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE INSTALLING AND USING THE
HEATING ELEMENT.
IMPORTANT!
· The element is intended only for
conventional water beds with minimum
dimensions 75 x 200 cm and minimum
depth of water of 17 cm.
· The mattress must be placed on a
hard base.
· The element is not intended for
medical use.
· The element should be connected only
to 220-240 V AC.
· The heating element must not be
switched on when the mattress is not
filled with water during emptying or
filling.
· Ensure that the bedding does not
come into contact with the heating
element as this will lead to overheating.
· Sharp objects such as needles and
pins must not be inserted in the element.
THE HEATING ELEMENT, THE THERMOSTAT
AND THE CONTROL DEVICE
The heating element is supplied with
a thermostat and a control device. The
thermostat controls the temperature in the
heating element, and the control device is
used to set the timer and the temperature.
CHECKING THE ELEMENT
The function of the element is checked
as follows:
1. Plug the element connector into the
thermostat and the mains plug into the
mains power point.
2. Set the control device to the maximum
temperature. See "adjusting the control
device" for instructions. The heating
element should now become warm to the
touch after a short time.

3. Withdraw the plug from the mains power
point after checking the element.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON INSTALLATION IN
WATERBEDS!
An opening must be made in the base of
the bed for the entry of the cable, or a
corner of the bottom panel must be cut
out. The element should be placed under
the water mattress and the safety liner
avoiding all creases.
INSTALLATION IN SINGLE BED WITH HARD
BASE (FIG 1A)
1. Take care that the cable is not trapped
between the frame and the bottom panel.
Lay the element with the printed side
upwards, directly on the bottom panel,
making sure that it is not creased.
IMPORTANT!
If possible, avoid laying the element over
joints. If this cannot be avoided tape
over the joint with wide fabric tape before
laying down the element. Make sure that
the whole of the element is covered by the
safety liner and the water mattress. Both
the safety liner and the mattress must be
free from creases over the element.
2. Plug in the element to the thermostat.
3. When the bed has been fully assembled
and the mattress filled with water plug
in the element to the mains power point and
set to the required temperature.
