• The Brew Cycle
GB
Important! Keep the lid on the carafe while brewing. The drip stop will not operate without the lid.
1. Open the top lid (1).
2. Fill the water tank (13) with fresh cold water. (See Before First Use, Step 1: Espresso/Cappuccino
Maker, no.1). Markings on the tank or carafe indicate the level of water required to brew the desired
number of cups. Never exceed the MAX filling mark (water tank), but make sure water is at least up to
MIN mark for each brew cycle.
3. Lift the spout (Fig.5) and insert a standard #4 cone shaped paper filter (not included) in the filter basket
(16).
4. Fill filter with regular ground coffee. We recommend one measuring spoon of coffee for each cup of
strong coffee desired. After having used your coffee maker several times, you may, of course, adjust the
amount to your taste.
5. Fold down the spout (Fig.5) and close the lid (1). It must engage audibly.
6. Put the carafe (12) with its lid onto the hotplate (11).
Please note:
Bottom of the carafe needs to sit flat on the hotplate. Make sure carafe is perfectly in place; otherwise cof-
fee cannot drip from filter into carafe.
7. Press AUTO/CAFÉ (A) either once or twice according to the setting (see above) to start the brew cycle.
The pilot light lights up. Brewing starts.
Please note:
If you wish to serve a cup of coffee before the brew cycle is complete, simply remove the carafe (12) from
the hotplate (11). Dripping will automatically cease. Put carafe back into place on hotplate within 15 sec-
onds, dripping will resume.
• After Brewing
After brewing, whether pre-programmed or immediate, the coffee maker will keep the coffee warm. When
the preset keep-warm time (1-5 hours) has elapsed, the coffee maker switches off automatically.
