crease in sensitivity with regard to the recognition of colorectal
adenomas, and with regard to also carcinomas when combined
with Hb detection (8-9).
3. PRINCIPLE OF THE COLONVIEW HB/HP TEST
The immunological ColonView Hb/Hp test is based on an immu-
nochromatographic method, in which Hb/Hp is specifically recog-
nized through specific antibody reactions.
In the case of a positive result, Hb/Hp molecules from the stool
sample attach to the test band (T) and are visible by means of a
pink/red coloration. In the case of a negative result, there are no
Hb/Hp molecules that can attach to the test band (T), and there-
fore there is no coloration of the test band (T). If the control strip
(C) turns red/pink in color, this shows that the sample has been
taken correctly and has migrated correctly. The test is therefore
valid.
