Problem Solving

CAUTION: Turn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord before servicing.
Problem
Motor will not start.
Motor suddenly stops.
Does not clean carpet or bare
floor
No suction at the end of the hose
Headlight is not working
Noise from the brush roll area
Cleaner is hard to push
Brush roll with not turn
Does not clean carpet or floor
Handle will not release

Cause
Power Plug • Push plug securely into outlet.
• Try another outlet.
• Check circuit breaker.
On/Off Switch • Turn on/off switch to |.
Thermal Cut Off • Refer to page 2.
Thermal Cut Off • Refer to page 2.
Dust Cup and Filter(s) Empty the dust cup and/or change the filters.

Hint: If picking up fine dust, the dust cup may
not look full, but a fine substance tends to
reduce suction when it blocks airflow through
the foam filter. Make sure the foam filter is
installed properly.
Belt • Replace a cut, or out of shape belt.
Brush Roll • Clean hair and thread from bristles and end
cap area. Replace brush roll if bristles are
worn.
Hose • Remove any clogs from the hose that restrict
the airflow. See pages 21-22.
Bare Floor Setting • For bare floor cleaning, make sure brush roll
control is in bare floor position.
Cleaner Height Setting • For carpet use-make sure proper level is
selected, for barefloor-barefloor is selected.
Clear tube blockage • See pages 21-22.
Dust Cup and Filter(s) • Empty the dust cup and/or change the filters.

brush roll compartment.

Cleaner Height Setting • Turn adjustment knob to a higher position.
Belt • Replace a cut or out of shape belt.
Belt • Replace a cut or out of shape belt.
Cleaner height setting • Try alternate height settings.
Handle release pedal • Step on outer edge of pedal to release.
