During operation, the outer surface of the pump (if hot liquids are being pumped) and
the outer surface of the motor can exceed 40°C. Do not touch with parts of your body
(e.g.: hands) and do not put combustible material into contact with the pump.

7. Maintenance

Maintenance operations must be performed by skilled and qualified personnel only. Use suitable
equipment and protection devices. Observe the accident prevention regulations in force. If you
need to drain the pump, make sure that the drained liquid does not cause damage or injuries.
The pump does not need any ordinary scheduled maintenance.
It may require maintenance in special cases, generally consisting of cleaning the impeller and replacing
the mechanical seal.
Before performing any pump maintenance make sure the motor is disconnected from the mains.
The reference number of each individual component can be found in the exploded views at pages 104÷118.
The motor, bracket, impeller and all the parts mounted on the shaft can be disassembled without discon-
necting the pump body from the system.
Remove the drain plug and drain the pump body, then proceed as follows:
7.1 FHE - 2FHE disassembly
- FHE: Remove the screws that secure the adapter (4) to the pump body (1); remove the motor (9)/adap-
ter/mechanical seal housing (3) and impeller assembly (2) from the pump body; remove the O-ring (6)
and the stationary part of the mechanical seal (7).
At this point both the motor and the liquid end are accessible for maintenance and cleaning.
- 2FHE: Loosen the fastening screws that secure the suction flange (4) to the pump body (1), recover
the O-ring (8) from the pump body, slide out impeller A (2), remove the diffuser (3), slide out impeller B
(2A) and the rotating assembly of the mechanical seal (7), then recover the fixed assembly of the me-
chanical seal (7) from the pump body. At this point both the motor and the liquid end are accessible for
maintenance and cleaning operations.
7.2 FHS disassembly
Proceed as indicated in paragraph 7.1 but remove the motor/pump support as well.
Please note that the impeller is keyed to the stub shaft fixed directly on the motor shaft extension.
7.3 SHE-SHS-SHOE-SHOS-SHOD disassembly
Version with support:
Support the motor using the special hooks and ropes or shims. Loosen all the screws that fasten the
pump body (1) to the adapter (4), and move the motor back until the shaft extension and the impeller (2)
are extracted from the pump body. At this point both the motor and the liquid end are accessible for
maintenance and cleaning.
Version with supports on the motor housing
Loosen the screws that fasten the pump casing (1) to the adapter (4) and the screws that fasten the
motor feet to the base. Then proceed as described for the version with bracket: move the motor back
until the shaft extension and the impeller are extracted from the pump body. At this point both the motor
and the liquid end are accessible for maintenance and cleaning. See the component list for the names
and ordering codes of spare parts.
7.4 Assembly procedure
For re-assembly, follow the disassembly procedures in the reverse order. Change the gaskets and any
damaged or worn parts.
