2.Air cleaner service
A dirty air cleaner will restrict air flow to the carburetor. To prevent
carburetor malfunction, service the air cleaner regularly. Service more
frequently when operating the pump in extremely dusty areas.
Never use gasoline or low flash point solvents for cleaning. They are
flammable and explosive under certain conditions.
CAUTION:
Never run the pump without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will
result from contaminants such as dust and dirt being drawn into the
engine.
1.Remove the air cleaner cover (see page 15).
2.Clean in the air cleaner element warm soapy water, rinse and allow
to dry to thoroughly, or clean in a non-flammable or high flash point
solvent and allow to dry.
3.Dip the air cleaner element in clean engine oil, and then squeeze out
all the excess oil. The engine will smoke when started if too much oil
is left in the foam.

4.Wipe dirt from the air cleaner body and cover, using a moist rag. Be
careful to prevent dirt from entering the carburetor.
5.Reinstall the air cleaner element (see page 15).
