Mounting Module B onto Module A

Before commissioning Module B, Module B has to be mounted on Module A
and connected.

Preparatory work on Module A

Before removing the terminal area cover the mains connectors to Module A
have to be cut off from the mains.
Remove the terminal area cover from Module A. (Taking off the terminal area
cover – see MES Module A operating instructions).
Always separate the connector of the vehicle battery (battery I) on Module A
by pulling out the feed plug! The feed plug connects the Module A with the
contacts 9 and 13 to the 13-pole coupling plug. (See also MES Module A
operating instructions, page 13, picture 8, pos. 1).
The Module A is equipped on the right side with two multipoint connectors that
serve the connection of Module B. The 8-pole multipoint connector (front
multipoint connector) is provided with a bridging plug by the manufacturer as
standard. This bridging plug has to be removed before the installation of
Module B.

Working on Module B

Connect the multipoint connectors
The mating components of the multipoint connections are located on the left
side of Module B. Assemble Module B and Module A so that the 8-pole (fig. 1
pos 4) and the 9-pole multipoint connectors (fig 1 pos. 3) engage visibly on
Module A. The side surfaces of Module A and B have to lie flat on one another.
To create protective conductor contact
Similarly on the left side (front / top) of Module B there is a threaded bolt (M4)
(fig. 1 pos 6). The threaded bolt serves as a protective conductor contact and
has to be fed through the bore-hole on the right side of Module A when
assembling the Module. Always make certain that there is a conducting
connection between Module B and Module A, by screwing the threaded bolt
using the toothed lock washer provided and nut (M4) to Module A. To do this
