2. INTRODUCTION

With the DT Digital Trilevel power amplifier series, ECLER puts in your hands an extremely
lightweight unit which is able to withstand long operation periods at its maximum output level without any
noticeable limiting or audible compression.
For such a feat, ECLER employs a resonant switch-mode power supply with PFC (Power Factor
Correction) and its exclusive "Digital Trilevel" amplification technology.
The benefits of using a stabilized resonant-structure switch-mode power supply with PFC can be
summarized as follows:
High performance as a result o minimizing heat losses in the switching power device and using a high
efficiency structure (>92%)
Less heavy and bulky. The power transformers can be smaller, as operating frequency can be
increased if the power device is in "ON" state when current equals zero. Smaller heatsink, as
switching losses are reduced to a minimum.
Stabilized supply voltage from 180 to 265VAC. The amplifier's output power is therefore independent
from mains supply voltage.
Extremely reduced EMI (Electromagnetic interference)
Higher reliability (specially against short-circuits) as a consequence of both using a series LC structure
and setting less stress on the switching power device.
The PFC circuit optimizes the ratio of useful power against total power consumption. In practice, the
user may connect more amplifier units to the same power line or mobile power system. Few amplifiers
with switch-mode power supply feature PFC.
High reliability. Fully protected against short circuits.
Exclusive "Digital Trilevel" amplification technology
"All the power all the time" operating philosophy, not based on musical use.
High performance. 6 times lighter heatsink (2,36kg vs. 0,4kg) than on a conventional power amp with
similar output power.
Class BD. The use of class BD instead of the more commonly used class AD implies a more faithful
reconstruction of the output signal whilst greatly reducing residual ripple, specially with no input signal.
Extremely reliable thanks to its VCA-controlled protection circuits against shorted loads, temperature
and DC at the output. The temperature protection circuit does not clip the signal but applies a gentle
and inaudible VCA compression.
Very low distortion, comparable to an analogue power amp, thanks to its elaborate feedback scheme.

Temperature controlled progressive "Back to Front" cooling system takes air from the rear and throws
it out at the front panel. Thermal management system.
Effective protection systems that do not affect audio quality with status indicators.
VCA-controlled autogain protection system (Analogue Autogain Signal Processor) and intelligent
variable threshold anticlip protection that adapts to the incoming type of transient peak.
