Introduction
There are two main IV access areas on the
Laerdal IV Torso:The neck/subclavian region and
the femoral region.To gain IV access in these two
areas, specially designed soft pads can be placed
in the recesses in these two areas.The pads
include artificial skin, veins pre-filled with simula-
ted blood, palpable arteries, bone and muscle.
Cautions and Warnings
Latex allergy
The replacement pads on the Laerdal IV Torso
contain latex. Users who suffer from latex allergy
should take precautions while using or handling
the replacement pads by wearing protective glo-
ves of a non-latex material.
Cleaning
Do not use alcohols to clean the latex pads.
Use water only.

Items included

The Laerdal IV Torso Basic version includes an
internal and external shell, pulse tube set, a bottle
of simulated blood, one neck replacement pad,
one femoral replacement pad, Directions for Use
and Carrying Case.
Getting started
Opening the torso shells
Lift the double torso shell from the carrying case.
Pull the flap on the waist end of the outer torso
shell outwards with your fingers while pressing
inwards with your thumb. Lift the waist end
upwards until the outer shell comes loose from
the inner shell at the head end.
Remove the pulse bulb from its recess in the
inner shell. Fig 1.
Placing and replacing pads
Unpack the Neck pad and Femoral pad and
place in the corresponding recesses in the inner
torso shell. Position the long veins in the channels
in the inner shell. Connect the extending tubes
from the pad to the pulse tube at the neck and
femoral sites of the inner shell. Fig.2.
