10.2 Functions
There is another menu cycle available during the meas-
urement procedure in active display mode (SCAN) which
depends on the selected settings. All the functions and their
setting parameters are therefore explained in detail in the
following subchapters.
10.2.1 Setting the emission value
This chapter restricts itself to explaining the
procedure for setting the degree of emission.
Detailed information regarding the characteristics of
emissions can be found in chapter 8.
The degree of emission of the infrared thermometer can be
set anywhere within a range from 0.10 to 1.00 in order to
allow exact measurements of different materials to be
carried out. The setting can be carried out in steps of
0.01.
A quick press of the appropriate key changes the value in
steps of 0.01. These steps can be accelerated by keeping
the key pressed.
The selected emission value remains stored in the device
– even when the power is off – until a new setting has
been selected.
How to set the emission value
during the measuring process
in active display mode (SCAN):
connected (see chapter 11), the measured value can
be seen on the lower functional value display, and the
emission value cannot be changed in active display
mode (SCAN). The emission value setting must be
carried out in passive display mode (HOLD), as ex-
plained below.

How to set the emission value prior to or
following measuring in passive display mode
(HOLD):
In order to set the degree of emission in passive
mode (HOLD), press the select key "Functions"
(mode)
until the symbol "Emission Value" starts to
blink.
The actual emission value can either be increased or re-
duced by pressing the select key "Up"
spectively.
10.2.2 Permanent measuring
The infrared thermometer is equipped with a permanent
measuring function. When this function is activated, the de-
vice carries out temperature measurements without the
trigger
having to be kept pulled all the time.
This function can only be activated in passive display
mode (HOLD) and remains stored in the device for the next
measuring process.
In order to activate the permanent measuring func-
tion in passive display mode (HOLD), press the key
"Functions" (mode)
the status indicator "Permanent Measurement" starts to
blink. This function can now be activated (ON) by pressing
select key "Up"
key "Down"
If the permanent measuring function has been activated,
then a quick press of the measuring trigger
to initiate the measuring procedure. The device then
records the temperature measurement values continu-
ously until the measurement process is terminated by
briefly pressing the measuring trigger
10.2.3 Alarm function
re-
The infrared thermometer is equipped with an alarm func-
tion which automatically notifies the user of temperature
measurements that are above or below individually con-
figured alarm threshold settings.
If the alarm function is activated, then an acoustic signal
informs the user of any temperature measurements which
are above or below the temperature range as defined by
the user. In addition to this, an alarm symbol starts to blink
on the display.
