Normal Operating Sounds

These sounds are common during the
antifreeze cooling or heating modes.

You may hear a sound like water flowing. This
is the sound of refrigerant flowing inside the
system.

Possible Causes

The fuse is blown/circuit
breaker is tripped.
The Timer operation is not set
correctly.
The unit does not operate when • This is normal. Wait about 3 minutes and the unit
restarted.
Airflow is restricted.
The temperature control may
not be set high or low enough.
The air filter is dirty.
The room may have been hot.
Cold air is escaping.
The batteries are inserted
incorrectly.
The batteries may be dead.
What To Do
• Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box and
replace the fuse or reset the breaker.
• Check the Timer functions and make sure they are
set to the desired settings.

• Make sure there are no curtains, blinds or furniture
blocking the front of the system.
• Turn to a lower or higher setting. The lowest setting
provides maximum cooling.
• Clean the filter at least every 30 days.

• When the system is first turned on, you need

• Check for open furnace floor registers and cold air
returns.
• Check the position of the batteries. They should be
inserted in the opposite (+) and (–) direction.

You may hear a clicking noise when you start
or stop the unit. This sound is the expansion
or contraction of the unit due to changes in
the temperature.
