1. Safety information
The following safety regulations must be adhered to in order to protect personnel
from damaging their health and against electrical shocks, injuries, fire and the danger
of explosions occurring.
The WELLER WFE 20D soldering fumes extractor conforms to the EU declaration of
conformity in accordance with the basic safety requirements laid down in the
89/336/EWG, 89/392EWG and 73/23/EWG EU Directives.
Agreed method of utilisation
You are not permitted to use the WFE 20D for extracting inflammable gasses.
The system operator is responsible for keeping the workplace within the legal
pollutant limits.
You are not permitted to use the WFE 20D if it is not in a trouble-free technical state.
You are not permitted to carry out any conversions to the WFE 20D.
Contaminated filters must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
You are only permitted to use the WFE 20D in the manner described in this
operating manual.
Safety in the workplace
Untidiness in the workplace increases the danger of accidents.
Children and unauthorised personnel are not permitted to enter the workplace.
The valid safety instructions and accident prevention regulations must be adhered
to at all times.
Any equipment that is to be used must be in a trouble-free state.
The workplace should be laid out so that it is ergonomically correct.
Stylistic errors will cause stylistic damage.
Personnel requirement conditions
Only qualified and therefore authorised personnel are permitted to operate the
WFE 20D.
Personnel protective clothing must comply with the technical safety regulations
applicable to he workplace, this includes:
– Protective clothing
– Safety goggles
– Breathing mask
– Ear protectors
– Industrial safety gloves
The warning information and the safety information data sheet provided by the
GB
manufacturer of the adhesive must be adhered to when preparing the adhesives.
Protect yourself against splashes of solder, as there is a danger of being burnt by
the liquid solder.
Electrical tools
The mains cable must only be plugged into the mains socket or adaptor provided
especially for this purpose.
Do not use this cable for any other purposes than what it was designed for.
Electrical tools must always be cleaned carefully.
The WFE 20D must not be used in very humid or damp surroundings.
The WFE 20D must never be used in the vicinity of inflammable liquids or gasses.
You are only permitted to use the WFE 20D in the agreed manner.
Protect the connecting cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.
The connecting cable must be regularly inspected for damage.
Any damaged electrical tools must be removed before any further use.
Safety devices must never be taken out of operation.
Only use accessories or auxiliary equipment that are listed in the accessories list
in the operating manual or released for use by the manufacturer.
WELLER accessories or auxiliary equipment must only be used with original
WELLER equipment.
The use of other tools or other accessories can result in the danger of injuries
arising.
If the WFE 20D in operated in conjunction with other equipment, attention must
be paid to the warning information given in the operating manuals for the other
equipment.
Accident protection
Look out for sparks.
Only a soldering fumes extractor that is suitable for the workplace should be
used.
Prevent unauthorised starting.
Only work in well-lit areas.
If devices for connecting a soldering fumes extractor are already present, they
must be tested to ensure that they are in a trouble-free technical state.
