1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. CAD 900 GENERAL VIEW
CAD 900 is a digital control unit for HMI light sources. The light beam is
dimmed by a motor driven mechanical device; either a louvre style dimming shutter
fitted to the front of an HMI Fresnel or a iris style fitted inside a ROBERT JULIAT
HMI profile. The dimming device is connected to the CAD 900 by a 7 pin XLR.
CAD 900 also controls the switching of the HMI lamp, provided the Integrated
CAD 900/ballast is used. This is standard on ROBERT JULIAT profiles and a modi-
fication service is provided by Robert Juliat for HMI fresnels.
CAD 900 recognises DMX 512 and AVAB protocols. Analogue 0/+10 volt inputs
are provided and also the possiblity of direct control through the front panel. The
output level is set by the highest of the input levels. "Highest takes precedence"
The front panel allows for the changing of parameters and displays operational
information. A diagram of the front panel is shown on the fold-out sheet APPENDIX
A. A full explanation of its use is provided in following sections and is laid out as
follows.
1.2. MANUEL SET-UP
Chapter 2 covers what happens when you first turn the unit on. Chapter 3
describes the basic use of the unit. Chapter 4 describes how to change the main
parameter settings and finally Chapter 5 discusses how to adjust the other parameters
known as preferences.
It is recommended to have CAD 900 in front of you when reading this manual.
