If the key inserted has a Texas transponder
which isn't one of those recognised in the ta-
ble above, the display will show the following
message:
TEXAS CRYPTO
COPY ON TPX2
Whereas the TPX1 can be reprogrammed as
many times as you want, the TPX2 is an OTP
(one time programmable) transponder, which
can only be programmed once, after which it is
irreversibly disabled for subsequent copies on
the same transponder.
Likewise: if the key inserted does not have a transponder,
the following warning message will appear:
NO CHIP
NO TRANSPONDER
It should also be pointed out that there are
top range cars, like BMW, MERCEDES or SAAB,
which have used evolutionary systems since
1995; with these although the machine may
say copiable, the copy won't be valid, as these
codes evolve constantly following a protocol
which is unknown to us. Avoid copying keys for
these vehicles later than 1995.

Copying
keys
These are the steps to follow to copy keys:
Local mode, no PC connection

• Insert the sample key or customer's original key in the
antenna housing and press the READ button. A messa-
ge will appear announcing the type and JMA reference
for the transponder in the original key read, in addition
to the type of transponder that JMA recommends the
copying to be carried out on. This is for fixed code
transponders and also now for encrypted code Texas
transponders. For copying the latter, please consult
the Manual for the TPX Cloner. If the transponders are
other brand encrypted like Philips, Megamos, Temic,
etc, the system will identify the transponder with its
JMA reference and will recommend how to proceed to
activate the key, generally directing you to our trans-
ponder manual.
• Then, following the steps indicated by the machine,
remove the key and insert the new key on which you
want to make the copy together with the relevant
transponder. When making the copy, it is best to insert
the key unmachined, as any burrs or swarf left on the
key could damage the machine's antenna. Also avoid
letting any swarf and/or metal particles drop inside the
TRS-5000's antenna or circuits as they could cause inter-
ference, which would lead to an incorrect electronic
copy of the key.
• Once the copy has been made, the machine will indicate
if the copy is correct or not.
• If you want to make more than one copy of the same
key, repeat all the steps detailed in the paragraphs
above, bearing in mind that it is best to make the copy
using as a basis the original key provided by the custo-
mer and as "basis for the copy" precisely the transpon-
der with the reference recommended by JMA.
Connected to the Computer
4.2
(PC Connected Mode)
As mentioned above, a CD is provided with the machine
containing an interface program for copying keys from
a computer. The following page gives the steps to be
followed to install that software.
The connection between the PC and the TRS5000 is detai-
led in section 5.1.3.1. In any case, please consult the TPX
Cloner Manual before making a copy using a PC.
Remote control operation (Connected to a PC)
disables the use of the TRS5000 in local mode.
That is to say, the READ / COPY buttons won't
work, as the control is operated from the PC
Software.
This Pc or interface software offers the following advan-
tages:
• You can store customer data for subsequent copies (you
have a database of customers who have copied their
keys at your premises).
• Convenient and attractive Windows interface compati-
ble with the W2000 / XP / VISTA operating systems.
• You can choose the language you want to work in from
the 5 available (Spanish / English / French / German and
Italian).
