KRL Box Application
New screeds must reach their readiness for covering before parquet, tiles, or other floor coverings can be installed. Installing coverings too ear-
ly may lead to defects and consequential damage to the floor coverings, the entire floor construction, and/or adjacent building components.
As a rule of thumb: at a room climate of e.g. > 18 °C and 60% relative humidity, a new screed requires approximately 1 week of drying time per
1 cm of screed thickness. For greater screed thicknesses, the drying time increases exponentially.
In addition, the type of screed, whether the construction is heated or unheated, and the type of floor covering to be applied later all play a deci-
sive role – always be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
A long drying period does not necessarily mean the screed is dry, as unfavorable room conditions can significantly extend the drying time!
Therefore, professional testing of the residual moisture is essential.
Screeds with underfloor heating must be heated in accordance with standards before measurement. In these cases, it is essential to wait for
the heating process to be completed.
If the underfloor heating is deactivated during the measurement process, it should be activated during the measurement. If the screed has
been properly heated, the temperature increase will not lead to an increase in moisture. If the measurement result is negative, the
heating process must be repeated.
CAUTION: Please perform a sensor check at regular intervals. See Chapter 9 "Sensor Check."
