4 Using the Regenerative Power System
If strict CV operation is required under all operating conditions, especially at the maximum current
rating of the paralleled group, it is recommended to set the CC limit to the maximum programmable
value on the primary unit. If this is not sufficient, reduce the total requested load current, or consider
adding an extra unit to provide additional headroom for the group to maintain CV operation under
maximum load conditions.
Troubleshooting
If the following status indicators appear on the front panel:
PSP - primary/secondary protection
There has been a communication loss between the primary and secondary units. Check that the
CAT6A cables
are installed in the primary/secondary connectors, not in the in the LAN or Safety
Disconnect.
CSF - Current sharing fault
There has been a current sharing fault due to the primary/secondary loop being out of regulation. This
can occur if the
termination switches
a mode crossover from a load transient or due to rapid up/down programming. If this is the case, set
the current limit to a higher value. CSF can also occur if the loop can no longer regulate the current
imbalance between units. CSF can also be an initial indication of communication loss with the primary
unit; which will transition to PSP.
If the following error messages occur:
No secondary units discovered or 1 secondary discovered (if expecting multiple secondary units)
Check that there are no duplicate secondaryaddresses.
Error 332, Primary/Secondary Error
This most often indicates that the primary unit has lost communication with a secondary, and is usually
accompanied by PSP. Check that the primary/secondary
can also occur when changing the primary/secondary configuration. Always set the primary unit to
None when changing primary/secondary configurations.
Independent Parallel Operation - RP795xA, RP796xA
Never leave any units powered on while the others are off. If AC power is turned on or
off on a single unit, the outputs of the units that are on will be enabled and will
transition to their programmed settings. To prevent this, program the outputs of all
units to zero before powering them off, and always power all units on and off
together.
