Testing the signal chain
To test the signal chain from the gas detector to the controller, the gas reading
(Primary Value [PV]), device variable status, and device status can be
simulated. The simulation mode is available in PolySoft.
The simulation takes into account the entire device behavior.
During testing, the simulated gas concentration and delays of times alarm is
activated must be checked. Several transmitted gas readings (Primary Values
[PV]) need to be recorded by the gateway. The times between the recorded gas
readings (Primary Values [PV]) must be checked.
The signal chain can also be tested with test gas. The gas concentration and
delays in the signal chain must also be checked.
The effects on the delay of the time to activate the alarm are mainly caused by
the reaction time of the sensor and by the settings of the burst mode (Burst
Mode) (see "Burst Mode", page 44).

LED test
The Dräger PolySoft configuration software can be used to perform an LED test
to verify the function of the LED display.
No errors or warnings should be active during the LED test.

Sensor settings
Sensor settings are available in PolySoft.
Setting the capture range
The capture range allows unwanted zero deviations to be suppressed. The
setting affects the measured value which is output.
This feature is used to define the capture range and the capture value limits.
Setting the calibration interval
The calibration interval defines the time window for the next calibration. If
the interval expires, the gas detector issues a warning.
Sensor self-test
The sensor self-test is a safety feature that is performed at recurring
intervals. If the sensor does not pass a sensor self-test, a warning is output.
Further negative self-tests will result in an error message being output.
The sensor self-test can be deactivated in PolySoft, and can also be
performed manually.
