d) Connect the encoder and drive shafts via a tolerance-com-
pensating element (coupling).
e) During assembly, protect the tolerance-compensating ele-
ment against too important bending and damages.
f) Align the coupling on the shafts, screw the coupling
without preload.
g) Secure the screws against loosening, see chapter Screw
Retention.
4.1.4 Assembly Instructions for Hollow Shaft
Encoders
a) Slide the encoder on the shaft.
b) Comply with the minimum and maximum insertion depth of
the shaft in the encoder.

c) Comply with the maximum permissible shaft offset.
d) Screw the stator coupling or the torque stop without pre-
load on the drive flange.
e) Tighten the screw on the clamping ring.
f) Secure the screws against loosening, see chapter Screw

Retention.

4.1.5 Cable Routing

Cable Routing
Route the sensor cable free of any tension, so that no addi-
tional force is applied on the measuring system. Consider the
minimum bending radii of the connection cable.
Comply with the instructions in chapter
Information for EMC-Compliant Installation [} 22].
Wiring
When wiring the facility, pay attention to proper cable routing.
• Separate the wiring into power groups such as motor/power
supply lines and signal and data lines.
• Route the signal and data lines as close as possible to
ground surfaces (frames, metal rails, cabinet sides) and not
parallel to motor and power supply lines or other lines carry-

ing high interference levels.
• Do not connect other users with high interference levels
(such as frequency converters, solenoid valves, contactors)
to the power supply of the device.
