Thorough cleaning:
1. Please allow the espresso maker to cool down first.
2. Then wash all the parts of the espresso maker individually and thoroughly
in hot dishwater. For this purpose also remove the seal and the sieve so
that you can also clean the inside of the rising pipe (located in the top half
of the espresso maker). Rinse the lower half of the pot on the inside only
and clean the outside only with a damp cloth.
3. Then rinse all the parts in clear water. Rinse out the lower half of the pot on
the inside only and wipe the outside using a damp cloth.
4. llow all parts to dry completely before putting them away.
Descaling:
1. Clean the espresso maker thoroughly as described above.
2. Fill the lower part of the espresso maker up to the brim with a solution of
citric acid or vinegar (in case of heavier scaling a commercial descaling
product should be used). Observe the safety information and instructions
for use on the package.
3. Insert the filter insert into the bottom part so that it is descaled as well.
4. Remove the sieve from the top part and place it in a separate receptacle
along with the solution being used.
5. Let all parts stand until the lime has completely dissolved.
6. Pour off some of the solution from the lower part so that the valve is no
longer under water. Now assemble the espresso maker according to the
instructions and bring the solution in the espresso maker to a boil (without
any coffee powder) once or twice.
7. Then, clean the espresso maker thoroughly once again as described
above.
It is important that the safety valve, in particular, remain in contact with the
descaling agent for several minutes. The safety valve must always be free of
lime deposits, since otherwise it cannot function properly.
