STACK CUTTING
Refer to Figure 14.
After becoming well acquainted with the saw through
practice and experience, you may wish to try stack cutting.
Stack cutting may be used when several identical shapes
need to be cut. Several pieces of wood may be stacked
on top and secured to each other before cutting. The
wood pieces may be joined together by placing double
sided tape between each piece or by wrapping masking
tape around the corners or ends of the stacked wood. You
must attach the stacked pieces of wood to each other so
they will move on the table as a single piece of material.
WARNING
To avoid possible serious personal injury, do not cut more
than one loose piece of material at a time.

REMOVING JAMMED MATERIAL
When backing out the workpiece, the blade may bind in
the kerf (cut). This is usually caused by sawdust clogging
the kerf or when the blade comes out of the blade holders.
If this happens: Wait until saw has come to a full and
complete stop.
• Place the switch in the OFF position.
• Unplug the saw from the power source.
• Remove the saw's blade and the workpiece. (See
Removing the Saw Blade.)
• Wedge the kerf open with a flat screwdriver or wooden
wedge, and then remove the blade from the workpiece.
WARNING
Turn the saw off and wait for all moving parts to stop
before removing loose pieces from the table to avoid
serious personal injury.
SANDING SLEEVE OPERATION
Refer to Figure 15
The HAUSSMANN XPERT 18" scroll saw has a sanding
sleeve located in the back end of the saw. The sanding
sleeve is operational when the saw is in the ON position
and is a feature to aid with the removal of the burrs that
are left from the underside of the work piece after cutting.
• Move sanding sleeve guard to allow access to the
sanding sleeve.
• Move the work piece in position to remove any excess
burrs.
• Once work piece satisfactorily cleaned of burrs move
sanding sleeve guard back to the closed position
